I am interested in Aux. lights that will mount on the OEM frame guard. Who makes a good set and does it require any "additional" wiring/relays/fuses to install these? I am not an avionics engineer, just looking for a simple add-on that even I perhaps could install without starting a fire and/or melting down my electrical harness (Murphys Law). "Simple" meaning take out of the box, bolt on, plug in and turn on. I dont need a mega watt zillion candle power set, just affordable and functional. reccommendations for models , vendors and features is always appreciated. Links are a plus.
thanks in advance. I thought Yamaha actually had a set but I dont see it on their website.

If you want complete plug-n-play then your only option is the OEM Foglight kit.

If you want the lights with the best illumination, then those are the Baja Designs Squadron's without a doubt (IMHO), but you do have to do some wiring, not much, but it is NOT plug-n-play.

If you don't know about how to install the aux light my advice is "go to professional" because if you make a mistake to earn money this mistake can be "very expensive".
There are a lot of auxiliar lamps, powerfull, price, drive lamps, fog lamps, etc . Make your choice and get professional help or some friend who knows how to install.

Ditto with JaimeV. Those solstice are superb. Small but super powerful and tuck nicely out of the way. Bolt straight onto the frame and easy to wire up.

DO NOT go with the Denali lights from Twisted Throttle. ::007:: I have gone through 2 wiring harnesses the second one lasted 1 week into my trip to Whitehorse. Took me 6 weeks to get TT to replace the first set cant be bothered this time around. Might go with the Rigid Industries for my next set.

The Denali lights are made by Vision X i think they make the Solstice lights as well. Personally i would stay away from any thing made by Vision X.

This is the waterproof control unit for the lights that i opened up as you can see by the corrosion they are not waterproof.

I used Wasp's idea of a simple relay ! Why a control unit? Sorry, but simple'r the better !! Had no issues with Solstice and I know a few other forum members who have 4 in a row and don't have any issues....and here in the UK, we ride more in the wet than in the dry.

If you want HID I would probably suggest the self contained Fuego's from Baja Designs (life time warranty) Crazy - stupid bright Throws out light probably 1+ miles

If you want LED I would suggest Squadron from Baja Designs (life time warranty)..........
Or the Clear Water, Krista's or Glenda LED's (One year warranty) Squadron and Kristas are Crazy - stupid bright......

All of these lights and "kits" are easy to hook up. We are also always here to help if anyone has any questions.. I have installed and used all of these lights before....

Ok, now that I am thoroughly confused (didnt take much) whats the exact part number for the Yamaha OEM foglights?
Maybe I am blind but I DO NOT see them anywhere at the Yamaha Tenere website under accessories.
It looks like anything else is hard to install or has problems in one form or another.
Seems like a No-brainer, but apparently it isnt. I'd like to obtain something thats easily available, not backordered.
thanks again.

Hummm....I remember now....they are not a USA stocked item, but can be ordered from several Yamaha dealers overseas (or possibly Canada).

The part # is 23P-854A3-00-00 Several members of this forum have them. See here: http://www.yamahasupertenere.com/index.php?topic=1651.0
Installation instructions are listed on link from forum member 'Bundu' on the first page of the link.

Looks like http://www.yamabits.co.uk/ is one vendor selling & shipping them over here.

i would definitely shy away from the OEM lights. if you crack a lens, good luck getting a replacement.

i'm running the denali d2d's - going out on a limb, i would say that they're some of the more well known aux lights on the market. nice unit with a good spread using the fog lens. there are some folks who have failures, but i've never had a problem with twisted throttle and warranty issues.

i like the looks of the baja squadrons. look like they can really throw the light!

I too have the Denali D2 lights with zero issues thus far. Very bright and seem rugged enough for my purposes.
