Very, very nice!! Looks to be in museum quality condition.
That Bol D'Or version/colorway was never offered in the US.
I just noticed that all your bikes are listed in your signature,
Not sure how I missed that being that it is in plain sight....
Thanks, and yes it is museum registered. :)

Put on Yamaha Grip heaters and the infill panel sold by a member on here. Turned the key on and hit the menu button and there was the symbol for the heaters. Showed three levels. All works. Now for aux lights...
Oh, question answered about if I can raise the tank with Helibar setbacks on. You can! It is close but easily done.

Where did you get your speed bleeders from, did they come as a complete kit for the Super Tenere ?
Have them on my Goldwing, they sure make bleeding a lot easier.
Speedbleeder.com and get the bleeder bag too. No mess or tipped over bottles. They didn't have the Tenere on the website site so I called them. Small business in Illinois and they picked up and looked it up and told me what I needed and it was Shipped the same day.

Had a pair of new Metzeler Tourance fitted to loose wheels, which are now back in. New front EBC HH fitted and a set of those fork sock thingys. Am off to Scandinavia in about 10 days and expecting a few gravel/non tarmac roads, thought they might be a wise purchase.

Am shocked at the cost of tyres these days….just over £300:oops:

Hopefully you will have much better luck with your Metzler Tourance tires than I had.

What happen with yours?
Since I’ve owned it, I’ve only used Metzeler Tourance on my Super Tenere. That’s about 42k miles and 7 or 8 sets. I’ve mostly had the NEXT version, but have tried the EXPs and the base versions. Never had an issue with any of them. Prior to my current bike I owned a Caponord for 13 years and all but one set of tyres were Tourances, again without issue.

I’m curious about your experience with them.

My rear wore out way to soon and had 3 flats, front also wore out to fast, maybe it was just bad luck but I will never buy them again, friend uses them on his BMW and they seem to work excellent for him, that’s sort of what motivated me to try them. From now on I’m probably going to stick with Dunlop TrailMax Mission tires for the Tenere.

They're probably some of the best "70/30" tires I've felt. They're not 50/50s, as much as they want them to be, and they're definitely not 80/20s, too squirrely in the wet and you can really feel the edge of the sidewall tread when you lean hard into a corner. They have eaten three thousand miles on my bike and they might as well be brand new.

I agree that they don’t give great mileage. About 5-6k miles and they’re done, and they seem to wear at the same rate, F&R. The Caponord always returned better tyre mileage and the rear wore quicker than the front.

I did have a look into those Dunlops following some comments on here, however I rarely, if ever, ride non sealed roads , so stuck with more road biased tyres.

To be honest Rob i think you did the right thing there. I reckon the finish and quality will be better than new forks.

Took rear disk cover off to have it powder coated but it looks like there is some sort of thermal paste on the underside that presses against the disk. Can’t find any mention of it in the manual and it doesn’t look to have been applied very evenly. Has anyone else found this?

Thx Rob,
Is there any reason not to paint both sides? I’m not sure if the back has been painted or not?

Got my bike with a tad over 3k miles on it, that was 7 years ago. During that time it has always had Yamalube semi synthetic oil, that’s 8 oil and filter changes. This morning at close to 46k miles I’ve gone over to the dark side and gone fully synthetic, with Castrol Power 1 10/40.
Once I ride it I’ll report back if there’s any noticeable difference.

Just the diff oil to change and I’m ready for my Scandinavian jaunt. UPDATE, Have changed the diff oil now, what came out looked as if it came straight out of the bottle…..but then it was in there for only about 5k miles. Used Motul FS.

20+ years back Steve Linsdell just up the road at Flitwick motorcycles told me to never put fully synthetic in my Thundercat. Then years of Blackbird ownership with John at Jaws MC saying much the same. Took my S10 to Flitwick for its 6k service, spoke to one of Steves sons, asked if his dad still advised semi. Apparently not, only fully synthetic in all bar the basic 125s. Not had a chance to go further into Steve’s apparent U turn, but will ask if and when I see him for a chat.
I did the 12k service myself, using Shell 15/50 fully synthetic, as I’d aquired 6 1litre bottles on an M+P deal. Just bought two more bottles so I can do the 18k service now. Most likely I’ll drop back to semi next service, like I do with my Pan and FJR.

That was certainly the thinking years back, but AFAIK, provided the oil carries the proper API service SG type or higher , the JASO MA/MA2 label & the appropriate weight spec, you can use whatever oil you want. The main issue is the additives in car oils to reduce friction could cause issues with the clutch plates in a motorcycle engine - JASO oils don't have these additives. JASO MA2 spec was introduced as a bike specific classification back in 2006.
