Not oil, but I bought new tires for next season (in the northeast) because of potential shortages. Motoz tractionator gps.

For oil, there must be other offerings that would be suitable, no?

Same here on tires. I go through a few pair a year and those were the first things I reaction purchased for the bike.

As for oil, a simple search on the forum will give you far more than you'd ever care to read on the matter. Broke in a new S10 this year and am still running Yamalube fossil, which I do for 2 intervals before switching to synthetic. Rest assured, you will find an oil to suit you.

Check out project farm on YouTube that guy does some cool tests. Oil Super Bowl is the finale of his overall oil testing.
Oil does seem to be a personal opinion thing, I am sold on Amsoil, made in the US. They do a crap ton of testing, and any tests I see ppl do it is always top or close to the top. I’ve never had an issue with it.

Gonna try the Supertech 4T full synthetic. It's JASO rated and was the only thing I could find with that rating. Less than $24 for 4 quarts. Time will tell.
Must be a new variety ? I haven’t noticed on the shelf in my local Walmart’s yet . They do have 4T Mobile One that’s specifically intended for motorcycles but I believe it’s over $8 a quart.

Which is why I stick to OE Yamalube. Their bike, their brand.
I do the same, simple, i don't have the time to go looking for another brand oil to save a few bucks. In the long run no one will gain life out of their motor because they decided to go to brand X.
If its Yamaha approved for their bike's that's all i need to know, the rest is just smoke and a waste of my time hunting/questioning/wondering.

Not to start an oil riot, but just adding .02

Been using Rotella in my last 7 bikes (3 S10’s) and not for the savings, although that occurs.

Carries all the right certs and it’s been readily available on the road for longer outs and goes much further between changes than fossil, which saves time and money… Either of which I enjoy, but I’m more pleased with both.

It really does just boil down to what works best for you.

My local dealer has a storage yard round the corner that you can clearly see if you visit neighbouring businesses, in this yard is a fair pile of empty Putoline 50gal drums, so my guess is you don’t get Yamalube in your bike when they service it!! Unless you insist you want it, which I use to when I had a Thundercat years ago, always came away with a half litre left over in the can. Although it was always Mobil1 back in those days.
