Be careful. A couple years ago I got chased away from a nuclear power plant for stopping to take pictures! I wasn't on their property (public road) and didn't even see any signs. Security showed up pretty fast too.
Yeah, there's restricted . . . . then there's restricted nuclear s**t. Whole different ball game.

Not just nuk. Lots of high security places will consider anyone with a camera to be a potential threat. Regardless of being on or off property. Be careful out there.

Technically, elevation keeps water out so it could be wide open...

I do believe the intent is human created barriers.

Random large sharp edged rocks all over the place, and no cliff for them to have fallen off of. Strange looking scene.

And doesn't look volcanic. Although that super caldera isn't all that far away.

Edit: after a little investigation, those rocks pretty much have to be volcanic. SE Idaho has several calderas, and the glaciers didn't come down that far south. Probably because of all the calderas.

Southern Idaho got plowed by at least a couple glacial floods, could be erratics. Wrong color for volcanic to my eye, the round one looks like granite. Those calderas are Yellowstone marching across the eons. Don't recall if the Craters of the Moon rifts were related to the hot spot moving along or not.

I think this rock is quartzite. It was a great ride yesterday,as I left to go get more copy paper for work, I made a quick detour to grab a picture of a levy or dam. Then this dirt road was calling…. It was a fun ride, perfect for the S10. It will soon be covered in snow. I came back with the copy paper 4 hours later.
