I'm have a Mac Book Air with iMovie and have yet to download anything.
Wondering if there is a better, easier to use program or app before I start with hours of video and hundreds of pictures of some of my rides and adventures.

iMovie is super simple. I don't particularly like it because it isn't very powerful, but if you want simple, that's your ticket.

If you ever get to the point where you want to try something a little more robust or you want to try color correcting your footage, try Picasso or HitFilm Express. Slight learning curve but worth the effort.

Can imovie only be used for Apple computers?

Yeah, unfortunately iMovie is Apple only. If you have Windows 10 then there is a pre-loaded editor that is supposed to be as easy to use as iMovie.

Check out this link for more info:

If you have an older version of Windows then you should be able to find Windows Movie Maker online. It's bare bones but it's super easy to use. Basically all "drag and drop" stuff.

For simple, easy to use, you really can't beat iMovie.

Since my needs tend to run more towards the professional side, I have been really happy with the free version of DaVinci Resolve. It started off as a program for adjusting color, and has added robust tools for both video and audio editing over the years. It is a professional, timeline-based program though, so there is a learning curve to become proficient at it.

Ah, that's what it is called, Divinci... for some reason I had it in my mind it was called Picasso. Weird.
I use it for color correcting but have used it for full editing as well. I still prefer HitFilm, but that's a comfort thing, not a capabilities thing. Divinci has really come a long way over the years.

I used to use Windows Movie Maker for years when I was on Windows-7, but it's shortcomings became apparent after getting a new GoPro Hero-9 (there were others as well)
Since switching to a new Windows-10 based PC (which doesn't have Movie Maker) I downloaded a free open-source program called "OpenShot"
I've spent a little bit of time getting to know it, and so far has all the features I would need and is simple enough to understand.
There are plenty of short online tutorials to get you started also.
You may want to take a look at that one..................best of all, it's free!

The other nice thing about DaVinci is that it is cross platform. I'm primarily a Mac user, but did recently add an Alienware laptop that I use for streaming.

If you have a MacBook iMovie is a good starting option. I have only used apple computers for my personal use and have been using Final Cut X for about 10 years now. What's nice about it is 10 years ago I forked over the $300 and I've never had to pay a single thing since then. It is optimized for Macintosh hardware to perform perfectly.

But like others have said if you want to go with a free option Davinici Resolve is the next option to consider. And if I didn't already know Final Cut I would go with Davinci Resolve.

As far as being easy, I don't too many video editing programs that are super easy. I've been doing it for years so it's just something I'm used to. iMovie and lumafusion are ones that you might consider as easier to use. Also Filmora might be on the easier side.
