Recently got my gen2 S10 and just wondering whether it’s worth fitting the side wind deflectors?

Hoping to do some travelling later in the year (no off road) so lots of road work, do they make a big difference? and slightly concerned they might look a bit ugly! Thoughts?

They made a difference for me, they deflect rain quite well so you stay drier and they do seem to make it a calmer place with less buffeting. The wind deflector on top of the screen changed things completely for me.
I got slip screens from ebay, great quality, slightly thicker than OEM ones and there are different colours

These are Gen 1 deflectors on a Gen 2 bike. They fit because I've removed the original screen and replaced it with a Givi AirFlow

I can ride over the UK speed limit when touring in Germany with my visor up

How do you rate the Givi Airflow? I had one on my Versys 1000 and it was pretty good, do you have any photos?

Same question for me, I had one on my Versys too and it was brilliant on the lowest setting for screen and top section.

The Puig touring screen on the lowest setting I have on my XT1200 is just as goodas the GIVI but a lot higher to get the same effect and I find it distracting when riding slowly over potholes/bumpy ground when I want to see exactly where my front wheel is going.

I rate the AirFlow so highly that before I bought my Gen2 I did a lot of research to find if the AirFlow would fit. Obviously by fitting it I had to remove the Gen 2 adjustment mechanism with sat nav bar. You will need to put a couple of spacers on the bottom mounting screws to stop the screen catching the slightly different bodywork. I used a pair of black plastic number plate nuts

I find it extremely good, and as I said in my original post I can make 'steady progress' with my visor up. This can cause a slight problem in rain when the water is not swept off the visor and it might mist up and I can get very 'warm' when riding in hotter climates
The simple remedy is to lower the upper screen slightly.

Obviously these are my experiences and what works for me might not work for you

I've attached a few of photos for you as requested. Not the most attractive screen in the world but for me its function over appearance

Mike R, so you fitted a Gen 1 Givi Airflow to your Gen 2 bike? I have had me Gen 2 for 2.5 years and from what I understand, the Gen 2 adjustment mechanism puts the screen in a slightly different position to the Gen 1 and the Gen 2 suffers a little more from buffeting as a result. Thanks for the photos and the heads-up and screen fitting tips :)

'Mike R, so you fitted a Gen 1 Givi Airflow to your Gen 2 bike?'

Yes.

The 2 brackets that the adjustable screen mechanism bolts to on the Gen 2 models are exactly the same as the Gen 1 where the screen bolts on.

So all screens designed for the Gen 1 bikes will fit a Gen 2 (possibly with a couple of spacers) if you remove the adjustment mechanism.

Unfortunately Gen 2 screens will not fit Gen 1 bikes without some serious modification

Had them on my 2010 and they were great. Mainly helped to stopp buffeting. I don't have them.on my 2018 and have not needed them. I live in a warm climate though and like the extra airflow.

I'm Bad, I'm Nationwide.
Absolutely worth it.

I take mine off in the summer for more air flow (Las Vegas 120F) The day I put them on once the temp drops below 70, I can instantly tell the difference. As a side note, the bike actually handles a bit better at high speed with them on. Not a big difference, but enough that I can tell

Another recommendation from me, well worth fitting. I also found mirror extenders a help too, paid about £10 for them on ebay.

Dude, it's usually only 115F..and even colder in Summerlin lol. Nice to see another Vegas based S10 owner!
