Hi All,

2012 Blue Super Tenere checking in! Picked up this bad boy to go to Prudhoe (from California) with some friends but with COVID-19 that's probably not happening this year. My GSXR 750 was not going to be comfortable enough for this trip. We still plan on doing several states over maybe 10 days in July but we'll see. So far the most miles on the bike was Bay Area to Whitney Portal more or less 1,00 miles staying the night over a weekend. I must say this is a very comfortable bike from what I'me used to.

Picked her up back in September and have been lurking for a long time and fiugured it was time to join the forum. I've been changing some things up on the bike but wantted to ask, is this a good place for memebers rides? Or is there a better section for that. I would really appreciate some feedback on what I've done so far and suggestions.

Sorry I don't have a better pick at the moment than this. Not a lot of room in the garage right now and I was just trying to get a pick of the AltRider skid plate I just put on.

Question - has anyone cut the pillion plastic so that you do not need to remove the luggage brakets to take the plastic on and off? Anyone see a reason *not* to cut this?

Welcome from Idaho. Nice looking bike. I haven’t cut the plastic, because if I did it it would look like a hack job and new is probably $$$$.

I’m still riding pretty close to home with all this lockdown going on. Hopefully the restriction will ease up and I can get some rides to Oregon and Washington.

welcome aboard ! Not really sure exactly what plastic your thinking about cutting. When I switched from a 2013 to a 2018 I had to cut about 1 1/2 inches off the Yamaha wind deflectors and that turned out fine.

Where the screw driver is. Looking to notch out quite a bit with a dremel. So the plastic can be taken on and off with ease. I have a lot of wiring under the seat for McCrusuise and also a distribution block. Looking for faster access if I'm on the side of the road.

This bike touts function over form every day of the week, go ahead and cut slots and make it function your way. Post results here, I've thought of doing it too.

Welcome from Texas. I can't comment for/against the cutting. I'm just not understanding the question. . . . could be that I've never had to remove my passenger seat. She's very reliable. :)

Thank you for the warm welcome everyone!

Hello. I have a blue 2012 too. Great bike.
Twinzies!

Prudehoe Bay Trip was the exact same reason I bought my first Tenere.
Heck of a good reason

Went ahead and notched out the plastic. Took off more than I needed to but it falls right in and out of place now. Turned out just fine.

Ok. . . . now I get it. I still think you're going to be surprised how reliable she is. I don't think you'll have to be needing to get under the seat very often. :)

Oh I believe you. I went with this bike for the reliability, the drive shaft, the tank capacity and value.

Everything under the seat though I am adding. I'm going to wire in a USB outlet under there. Probably mount it to the outside of that plastic. Have a new rear seat coming so depending on how that fits it will oet me know where I can mount the USB.

I also have a front and rear dash cam in the mail, the innovv k2. If that fits under the rear seat I may be getting in there to swap SD cards every so often.
