….Jails do no not want any new customers except the really bad guys....
Can't speak for everywhere, but, that's not the case anywhere I know about. D.W.I./D.U.I., misdemeanor thefts, misdemeanor assaults, pretty much all but the lowest misdemeanors, are still being arrested. But, most department have a "no traffic" order in place. (no traffic stops unless really needed) I don't think it's being overblown, but I'm not sure we're taking the correct action either.

So, you're not really located in DFW then?

"Dallas police issued a directive last week saying officers will cease showing up to certain service calls. Dallas Police Chief Renee Hall announced officers would not physically respond to crimes like burglary of a motor vehicle, criminal mischief, graffiti, lost property and theft of service, among a few others. Rather, Dallas police are encouraging residents to report those minor violations online. A follow-up investigation would happen for those issues. "

Hell, they're emptying the jails in NYC.....

Meanwhile in Philly: "An internal memo obtained by Billy Penn and WHYY states that crimes including theft, burglary, prostitution, stolen automobiles, vandalism, and certain economic crimes will no longer automatically result in detention. Police will also temporarily stop enforcing bench warrants to individuals who fail to show up for court. "

https://whyy.org/articles/philly-police-to-halt-narcotics-arrests-other-charges-during-covid-outbreak/

And of course there's San Francisco: "Citing the need to undercut the spread of coronavirus, San Francisco’s public defender has called on police to stop issuing citations or arresting people for crimes as serious as non-violent felonies."

It's crazy I tell ya.....Crazy!

Those are all phony news outlets. Most of all news posted by the media is 100% false and outright lies.

Sorry Doug, but this statement not helpful. The last thing we need to do at this time is to reinforce the misguided belief that we are NOT in a global crisis. I did not open your link.
Respectfully,
Thank you for that. I am seeing more and more riders and general public resisting the order of public distancing. Fact is when you pump fuel and there is someone else on the other side of the island you are at risk. I have been getting my fuel late at night. My shopping is done early and I stay more than 6' away from others if possible.

My bad, I assumed that WFAA channel 8 in Dallas was a local news station: https://www.wfaa.com/

"WFAA, virtual and VHF digital channel 8, is an ABC-affiliated television station licensed to Dallas, Texas, United States and serving the Dallas–Fort Worth Metroplex."

Dallas: Taking a report, and catching somebody in the act....two different animals. Certain calls are being taken care of via phone. But some calls are still going to require a personal appearance.
Philly: Those are "lowest misdemeanors" I was talking about, assuming it was traffic court.
San Francisco: Of course a public defender is going to want that. That's their job.

And, by the way, I really am in the DFW area, and today I transported a felon to jail that violated his probation.

Politicians and their support staff can be so stupid sometimes. Yesterday the mayor of the city and county of Denver made some tighter restrictions which made sense EXCEPT, closing liquor stores. I died laughing and told my wife that won't stand for long. Major runs on liquor stores with no social distancing and unruly crowds overturned the ruling that liquor stores are necessary services. Amazing

No offense intended, reassuring to hear that we're not decending into "The Purge" yet. Hopefully TX stays away from the stupidness we're dealing with here in NY (Google "no cash bail NY" for details). Appreciate your service, stay safe out there.

Don't feel too bad. Our idiot governor just passed an order tonight to relieve those applying for parol/probation to video conferencing for release approval.

7 billion people in the world , say 100k plus have tested positive , odds are your pretty safe . man made attempt to panic people . just for grins and giggles , malaria and other mosquito born disease kills a million people year in and year out...... you have better odds to win the lottery than to get this c19 bug and to die from it.
Not if you live in New York

I wish more of that occurred. Maybe now that would become more of an incentive for felons to get their sh** in one sock. Not wanting to get tossed in the CV-19 capture pool.

Ended up taking a neighbor to the ER today (Not virus related). Kind of surreal in Glendale AZ. Screening tents with generators set up and waiting for the rush. ER staff pretty much chilling out.

Most of the cases here in AZ are "recovering at home".

I personally felt much safer on the bike by myself in the middle of the desert yesterday, than sitting in an ER parking lot.

50K-ish people do die from the flu. And, I too wondered why the concern with COVID-19 when the number of deaths are nowhere the number with the flu. They then claimed that COVID-19 had a higher mortality rate. Then, and I think it was Checkswrecks, it was explained that the flu might kill more, but more people caught the flu. COVID-19 kills a higher percentage of people that catch it. And, gun deaths? I've found all kinds of numbers. Depending on the agenda of who's providing the numbers. But, I don't think that gun deaths are anywhere close to flu deaths.

Gun violence in the states is an epidemic. The noise of it around the world is loud. Much worse is violence against women both reported and unreported. Do you have any of that near the 'gates of hell' down under. Or is all the bad just here state side.
