I just bought a new 2019 ST in east TN. I've been riding a WR250R for five years, but the size kept me mostly off the road. I fixed the highway problem today. Now the decision to be made is keep the WR or sell it. I had a couple FZ1s and an SV650 before. This is my first ABS/traction control/linked brake/electronic suspension bike. Fancy stuff. I need to go read the manual.

Stay with the WR to have fun......enjoy and care for the S10 .... it's like a lover (WR), and a wife(S10):):)
WR will keep appearing, S10 that you bought, are probably the last ones

Welcome to the Tenere. You’re gonna want to protect that radiator and sump. That is all.

Keep your WR. There will be occasions when you will want to go off road. The Tenere will go off road, but unless you are a big strong guy and capable of picking up the Tenere just use your WR. I'd like a smaller bike, but insurance here in Ontario, Canada is cost prohibitive, so I only have one damn fine bike and it is the Tenere.
Suggestions, install some crash bars and extra LED lighting for better visibility along with a 12 volt socket outlet to power an electric air pump so you can fix a flat tyre. Get a tubeless tyre repair kit.
Enjoy your new ride

I just ordered a skid and axle sliders from T-Rex. I'll look into crash bars after I get my car put back together. Busy weekend.

MMMM .... axle sliders I would not place them .... if I fell on the asphalt at a speed "X" .... I would like the bike to get away from me as quickly as possible and I did not want the sliders stop her sliding, with me under the motorcycle. maybe some metal, but not rubber

Welcome from Kansas. I really like the wheels. Would you be willing to trade LOL. I say definitely keep your wr. You will have the best of both worlds.

Welcome. You COULD sell the WR, and use that money to fund your accessory purchases. He's right about those wheels; they would look SO good on my Cobalt Blue. And, you have SO many great roads relatively close to you.

Welcome and congrats on the new bike. Keep the WR, it's perfect for things the S10 is a bit big for.

@Jlq1969 - The axle sliders are not rubber, but hard plastic that has self lubricating properties. They won't significantly slow the bike down, just sacrifice themselves to save other metal parts of the bike. I was glad to have them on my FJR when it got tossed down the road. Along with other crash protection, they allowed me to pick up the bike and ride home w/o oil leaking from damaged engine covers.

Beautiful bike. I test rode a 19' ES in Oxford, AL but ended up going used. Get that thing ready and let's meet up for a ride. I'm in Chatt and do almost all my riding in the nantahala

Sure thing. I once met up with some folks at Tellico Plains for an interesting day of gravel riding through the mountains. That's definitely the WR's territory. I'm debating on changing the tires on the ST to something better suited for some gravel and dirt. The places I like to go can get exciting.

Most of the riding I have done the last few years has been at BMW motorcycle club rallies like Euro Rider rally in Burkesville, KY in May, and the BMW Nashville club's Ribfest in Centerville, TN. I get to watch folks dropping 1200 GS bikes all day, and I Felt bad on my tiny 295lb WR250R. Now that I have the ST I can drop a 1200 bike too. :D All kidding aside, there are lots of great people at the rallies. I just don't ever see myself owning a BMW, ever.

Yo, from middle TN.
It’s been awhile since I’ve been to the Burkesville Rally and I’m always working the wkend of the Ribfest, and I was also in the Club at one time.
Sold my Beemers after numerous years and jumped on a FJR, never looked back but I do have a 88K75c as a saddle mate.

Depending on how “east” you are and if you’re on ADVrider you might check out a Tag game called Middle Tennessee Tag Riders thread.
I also think there is a Tag game for the east side of TN on ADV if you’re interested.
You know, for those days you need an excuse to ride :p

I've stalked your name and avatar on advrider recently, Mr. Cat. I have two friends who moved to Nashville close to the time I moved to Chattanooga. You may have run into them before. They ride quite a bit. Jen and Brandon. Good people.
