My new electronic goodies install

I'm excited to get this installed. What a dang powerful and feature filled PDM!! And upgradeable If I decide I want modulating lights and/or auto adjusting heated gear. I will say I'm a bit nervous about the install. I'm not much on doing electrical modifications. I figure If I could install a wound stator and adjustable rectifier on my Beta, then this should be not too bad......

I got started today. Installed the unit and hooked up my GPS. And boy what a pain to figure out a good safe place for it!! I ended up removing the OEM tools and got it positioned in the tool compartment. For the first hour I could not get it to connect. When it finally did it just stayed on even with key shut off. I was pulling out my bald hair stubs!!!

I emailed the owner Dan and he asked me what app I installed. Duhhhh I had the old Element app. After it was removed and got the Element Plus installed then the connection went smooth. This is a sweet unit. Worth the money and effort. I got the cheaper one as I don't have a need for modulating headlights or temperature controlled gear.

For the ignition source I tapped into the brown wire coming off the 3 prong aux light plug. There are too many options to note here. Just a few basic ones I used was switch gps on/off with the key and no delay, set the amps to 3 amps, and set the circuit memory to on. This way every time I turn on the key my gps powers up. The unit also shows temperature, speed, time/date. I triple checked that the PDM unit is in a fairly safe spot with no rubbing or hitting the covers.

I'm not into being a parts changer but I'm so impressed with the EarthX batteries that I removed the OEM one and installed the 36ETX. It has well over twice the cranking amps and I have every reason to believe it will be as reliable as my 7 year old EarthX battery that came in my Beta back in 2012.

About the same physical size as the Yuasa and a bit lighter. Disregard the picture showing location of lug adapters. Once the battery was on the bike I was able to bring the "side lug adapters" one hole closer to center of battery (middle hole):

I want to give a special thanks to Greg ( magic ) for the "how to" on getting battery out without removing the AltRider guards. You simply remove the bottom guard bolts and loosen the upper guard mounts. It springs out just enough so the battery will slip right out with a little rotation.

And a thank you to Jeff ( WJBertrand ) for getting me to spend my money!! LOL!! All joking aside, this is a great product and you really do get what you pay for.

My lights will be here tomorrow and I hope to get those installed in the next week or so. I'm not much of a night rider type of guy. OTOH I know all too well things happen where it cannot be avoided.

Congrats getting it installed. I have my GPS on a 10 minute delay before it turns off after switching the key off. This way when I’m on tour my track doesn’t get chopped into segments every time the GPS shuts off. 10 minutes is usually long enough to fill the bike’s tank and empty mine before getting underway again.

I found space for the unit just forward of the battery:

Good tip Jeff. I might set mine up that way too when I do a big ride. I'm still learning how my gps works (595LM). I like how yours is mounted. I almost put mine in that spot but figured I don't need the OEM tools so. 2 solutions to the same problem of trying to mount the unit on the ES.

It's a pretty serious device. I (think I) had mine upgraded to the aurora firmware from whatever the original was. I probably won't end up using most of the features, but it's so slick. I'll probably shorten the harness and move it out of the tool kit slot this winter.

hmmmmmm, this is interesting. I have never even heard of it until now. PFC.
It's a really super nice device! I doubt I'll ever use even half the features it offers. I'm hooking up my Baja Designs lights and I even have the choice of ditching the relay. The Element Plus even has a built in relay function that can be customized. I have also noticed it is learning all the time. first time connecting it was a bit sluggish. Now it's almost instant as soon as I turn on the ignition!!

FWIW, You can disregard the instructions for having to use a diode for "back voltage" protection. The Element Plus has built in protection.

Good day riders,
I am planning to install Neutrino Aurora + PDM on my 2021 ES. I am looking for placement options as I hear that ES models have less space on the battery side panel than the non-ES models.
Those having Neutrino on an ES, would appreciate if you can post a picture.
