Hi everybody,
Loving the Forum. After many years with 3 BMW RT's, and then 4 Pan's, i fancied a change. Started looking around like you do, but being 6'3'', with a 34'' inch inside leg, the choice is slighty limited, to say the least.
Comfort comes very high on the list for me, so the hunt begins.

Tried the V Strom, quite liked it, but the vibes where pretty bad. The GS, was all most as bad, plus the gearbox was like an old truck, no way. The tiger was reasonable OK, except my knees where really hurting, after 75 miles, just had to stop, too painful.

I will admit that i hadn't considered the Tenere, don't no why i hadn't. I was sat at a local cafe when a Tenere ES, in blue, rode in. So went over for a chat, just like you do.
Anyway he told me he was selling, due to heath reasons. So i had a sit on it, put the seat in the high setting, and it fitted great. So we agreed i would meet him later on at his house. Went for a good long ride, within 10 minutes, i knew it was for me. With the exception of wind noise over the screen, everything else was perfect.
So now i'm the proud owner of a 2014 ES, with wait for it, only 309 miles on it.

It also had nearly every single genuine Yamaha factory extra fitted on it.
Just ordered the rear brake extension piece, from SW, I manged to miss the rear brake lever, a couple of times, due to my Altburgs, and being size 15's.
I've learned so much all ready just from reading all the posts on the site.

Welcome to the Forum!

Like you, I had a good long ride and the only fault I could find was wind noise from the standard screen. I haven’t cured it completely but I have got it down to acceptable levels by fitting a LaminarLip from my old Buell Ulysses. I think the complete solution will be a new screen, but I have owned my 2017 Super Ten for almost a year including a trip to Holland, Germany and Poland last October. It really is a great bike for travelling on and I’ll be off around Northern Europe again in 2 weeks time.

Enjoy your new ride!

Welcome

The Yamaha winglets and an adjustable lip deflector thingy for the top of the screen sorted the wind noise for me, I got a £20 one off of eBay.

Enjoy the new bike

Welcome to the forum.

As the others have said above, plus some mirror extenders. Some turbulence can come from the reaction between the dirty air coming off the top of the screen being further affected by the air coming off the mirrors. Moving the mirrors further away from the screen helps to reduce this.

Welcome Tenere Man, what a great story on buying your bike. Like you the Tenere was also not on my radar but liking it very much so far.

+1 for the winglets, and at the moment I'm running a Givi Airflow on a Touratec adjustable bracket (both Gen 1 items) as there is no Aiflow for the Gen 2 bikes, plus mirror extenders.

Welcome from Idaho. What a find with that mileage. I’m noticing a good power improvement as I’m getting some miles on. Enjoy.

Welcome and great find! This engine takes thousands of miles to break in so get the airflow sorted and enjoy.

Lucky you!!! Welcome to the world of the Tenere. I'm new to the Ten as well with just over 1,000 kilometres (620 miles) on mine. I wish I was a little taller by say 25 mm (1 inch).
With the seat in the lower position I can barely flat foot, but cannot plant my feet firmly. I'm looking at options to lower the seat by 25 mm. Possibly I might try the smaller or shorter rubber bumpers to see if that works, but I believe these smaller bumpers will only level the seat.
I could buy a used OEM seat, as it apparently lowers the height by 30 mm 1-1/4 inches.
Don't want to alter the OEM seat either.
Agree with you about the rear brake lever. I'm a size 44 or 10 boot and I find the lever is too small and set too far inward making it difficult to find sometimes.
I feel like I want to remove the lever and try and bend it outwards.
Hmmmmm....anyone tried this??
Enjoy your new ride.

Hello everybody, wow what a welcome from you all since i posted up yesterday. I have being reading lots of the other posts, and its amazing how much info there is to read, & if you have any problems you may well find the answer within.
As to the wind noise on my bike that was coming over the top, and sides of the standard screen, about a week ago, i ordered a givi tall one, and it turned up yesterday afternoon. Fitted it staight away, and its stopped about 95% of the noise, but it seems to now have diverted air on the hand area position.
The bike all ready had the wing lets fitted to it when i got it.
I'll try it on the different height settings, see if there's any difference, we shall see.

Great find. And welcome. We are both about the same size. I think the Tenere is probably the best fitting bike I have ever owned. Enjoy the adventure.

Congratulations on the new bike ! Wind was a major issue with my first Tenere, after about 30,000 miles I finally bought a different windshield and wow what a major improvement that was !

Hello again everybody, LD, it was a Givi taller screen that i bought. It was Model A47, its 11cm taller & 5.5cm wider. It fitted exactly in the same holes. Its nicely bevelled on all the edges.
When i'm looking at the overall size of it fitted to the bike, yes it does look bigger, but not too excessive. So far after (33 miles) i am pleased with it.

FL. I must admit that it was a nice surprise, to have so much room on the Tenere. Its all ways being a problem, finding a bike that will fit me.

Shumba. Don't no if there listed any where, all ready made up, but when we bought my wife her Gixer 750, rather than having the seat made lower, i had a local machine shop make up 2 (pretty sure it was longer length) connecting arms. It lowered it perfectly for her. she's now able to put her feet flat on the floor, it improved her confidence no end.

So come on, tell us! What windshield did you buy??? :)
For my first Tenere I bought the biggest VStream they made in clear, it was a major improvement for me.

For the second Tenere I bought the midsize VStream because I had always thought the first one was slightly to tall, I have been very well satisfied with the midsize except for one thing it’s only available in tinted, I would much rather have clear. Yes the darker tint does look nice installed on the bike and I mainly look over the top but I just highly prefer a clear windshield.
