Hi guys, I have a 2013 S10 here in visayas Philippines done 22K. I am not at all mechanical so any suggestions most deeply appreciated. My mechanic is extremely good how ever lacks experience on big bikes.

Recently I am experiencing an intermittent hard rear brake pedal, like concrete, few seconds later its OK and the cycle repeats.

I had the doc 4 fluid changed and new rear pads fitted, unfortunately no help. The ASB light is normal. Usually this occurs when on a windy road and using brakes on a regular basis. I do use front as the dominant brake.

There are several threads worth reading under the BRAKES section, so search is your friend. The brakes are linked incidentally, so using the front also transmits effort to the rear. However a few of the basics are worth checking out initially: -

1. Rear caliper - this is a single piston affair that slides on pins. Does it slide freely; were the pins lubricated lightly with the pad change? Seeing uneven wear on the old pads would guide us.
2. Brake Fluid Change - was the ABS pump cycled with the change of DOT4 fuid ? ..... https://www.yamahasupertenere.com/index.php?threads/how-to-cycle-the-abs-pump.22743/
3. Rear brake lever fulcrum - get the pedal removed & lubricate the fulcrum to ensure the lever moves smoothly.

Hopefully this combo will clear the problem; otherwise come back so we can delve deeper.
