What's on your plate tonight?
Here in S.E. Iowa we have the most fertile soil in the world according to Guinness world book of records.
So it's easy to grow good food.
We eat like this most of the summer.
With lots of corn on the cob too.

It's good eating season, for sure. Lots of veggies grown locally in MD, VA, and PA. We also have a lot of fish options this close to the coast and the MD Eastern Shore area is one of the biggest producers of chickens.

Our rocky soil can't support life of any kind aside from a few weeds and pine trees. The fresh veggies look great !

We are blessed to live in a big agricultural area, Ventura being situated between the Oxnard Plane to the south and Santa Paula to the east. North is wine country! Lots of strawberries, citrus and avocado grown right in the city too. Hmmmm, now I'm gonna have to hit the Saturday morning farmers market downtown after this conversation!

The veggies are fine, but you GOT to throw some meat in there with them. WHERE'S THE BEEF?! :D

Bacon really makes it tasty but ham works good too.

It's berry time here in Wisconsin. Strawberries, raspberries and blueberries. Tomorrow we are going cherry picking. Most of the orchards have these machines that take the pits out. Very interesting machine. Soon it will be corn, tomato and watermelon time. Then comes the apples and cranberries. Eat to ride and ride to eat!

I agree, but our humidity has been sky high. I miss living in AZ with 12% humidity. So, it's been me and Mr. Microwave.

We have had a particularly active monsoon season here in the Vegas area this year. Local weather reporters are saying this is the busiest season they have ever seen. At least one storm every week since the season started...the one last Saturday was especially helpful though, helped clear the air of all the smoke from the California fires.

12%? What Heaven that would be.
Our summers are normally in the high 90s.

Lots of cucumber salad and corn this time of year.

A portion of my harvest this morning. These got away from me. The 2 cucumbers are stewing in the fridge with a quick pickle I made at lunch today on them. Gotta love that part of summer while we can!

We received four inches of rain last week. Our grass is green again, but our dew points are back in the 70's....with highs in the 90s. Just like MD.
