Good morning guys,

I am probably delving into the same topic as what oil or tires should I be using but i would just like to get a feel for what the different units (ECUnleashed, Power Commander, Bazzaz) out there actually does. I am looking to make my S10 a little smoother to drive and I want all the chained up horse power to my disposal.

My bike has stock air filter and stock exhaust.

How does these things work, What would you guys recommend?

Thank you in advance
J

I believe that if you have the ECU remapped (try AVC8130) then depending on what you ask for, but generally T-mode is smoothed out without the limiter and S-mode is also smoother but all very manageable with the right hand.

+1 avc8130 is a good choice for what you're looking for I was really happy with his tune. If you like to tinker, have deep pockets and want balls out performance, Autotune/Power commander/ECU Unleashed, Arrow headers and a can.

Shipwreck, I just installed a Flash Tune harness and have flashed their unrestricted maps to my bike. I'm very happy with it so far. As they mentioned above, AVC will put his program on your bike using the flashtune. I can say just having the unrestricted 1-3 gears is pretty amazing. If you are like me and want to do the work yourself to fine tune your bike, then I would recommend Flashtune.

Good luck whichever route you choose to go.

Getting more curious about the Flash Tune option, although I pretty much am financially committed to the current setup. The PowerFC and AutoTune unit doesn't seem to have enough resolution in the Fuel maps to smooth out the transition at light throttle. I run my AFR pretty lean at light cruise throttle for improved mileage (13.8) which seems to be WAY more lean than what the ECU unleashed map wants. It's pulling a significant amount of fuel in that light cruise area of the map to try to meet the 13.8 AFR. I can eliminate the surging by just fattening up the light cruise area, but I feel like that's a trade off.

The flash tune software shows the gen 2 bikes have a bigger (higher resolution) fuel map than the gen 1 bikes do. The software says that you can change the axis points but not add them. I've found this true in all the other maps(spark, decel, etc) but it allowed me to copy over a gen 2 fuel map with the additional axis points to my gen 1 file. I haven't tried it out yet, so I don't know if it will work. The flash tune will also allow you to adjust the MAP light load fuel tables too. In some of the ECUs they even give you the MAP vs TPS BIAS table so you can adjust when the bike uses which table. It actually blends the tables in a lot of the map.

You can get the software and their base tunes free. You may want to check it out. Play with the software without buying.
