My 2011 S10 has 45,000 km's on it and cold starts are becoming progressively noisy. I'm just about to do the valve clearances and will replace the CCT while I'm at it. Is the conventional wisdom regarding CCT replacement leaning towards a manual CCT over improved OEM CCT? OEM CCT in Oz is...
You could always try just swapping one 1.0 spring and replace it with a 0.9. Tha'll give you a 1.0 spring in one fork leg and a 0.9 in the other leg.......rate will now equal .95.
I bought a new 2012 DL1000 as a cheap foray into the dual sport/adventure segment after riding sport tourers for years. I really enjoyed my time on the DL.
Personally I thought the ergos where better on the DL than the S10 but still very similar. Wind management is better on the S10, better...
I use Motul "Show & Shine." It's mainly a silicon based cleaner......spray on and wipe off. The only disadvantage is that it attracts dust and fine dirt but it also stops crud from sticking to the paintwork so easier to wash stuff off. Your S10 looks great!
The best screen for me was the MRA Vario Touring Screen with lip. I added a Madstad bracket and winglets and eliminated most of the buffeting but the noise level is still quite high. Moulded ear plugs got the noise down to a comfortable level and I'm now pretty happy with the set up. I think...
Just changed the rear brake pads and can't find my thumb drive with my copy of the S10 workshop manual on it. Could some kind person please tell what the torque specs are for the two pins with 12 mm bolt heads which hold the brake caliper body in place.
Thanks
Has anyone had success with either Penske fork pistons or Traxxion/Ohlins fork cartridge kits with upgrading fork performance on their 2012 S10?
I've replaced the OEM fork springs with straight rate springs and had the valving/shim stack modified on the compression circuit by a suspension tech...
Another Bandit fan here! I had an immaculate gen 2 03 GSF1200S followed by an 07 1250S. Just loved my 1200 and still regret selling it. I'm always on the look out for another 1200 in good condition but the good ones are hard to come by now. I think the 1200"s had more character than the...
I agree that the S10 is a very underrated adv bike. However, I often thought that the Yamaha marketing team never did themselves any favours in promoting the S10. Most bike magazines etc are full of rival motorcycle manufacturers advertising their latest and greatest additions to the adv...
