I took the seal out cleaned and lubed it and refitted. It doesn't leak and never has just every now and then gets out of whack. Just re-seat the seal and it's all good again.
Hi Disaster. Welcome to our community. I had an ST1300 a few years back as did a good number of others on here, you'll know Mellow I'm sure. As you say completely different bikes, both very good, but very different.
I'd recommend that you don't go for a permanent or even semi permanent solution. Wrap or sleeve would be your answer. Anything else would likely devalue your machine. Gold forks are considered de rigueur by most.
Glad to hear that you're OK! If it's gonna be a claim on their insurance I'd drop it into a specialist to get it checked for correct alignment. Peace of mind if nothing else.
Absolutely. The TechSpec sheet material that I use on my bikes is ideal. It's maybe 1.5mm thk at the most. There are thicker variants of it of course but just go for the thin stuff. Easily shaped and can be applied and removed very easily. Perfect for what I want.
