Quick update on this thread. There's a lot of bitching about having to remove the skid plate to change your oil. I find this a false controversy because it's so easy to work with so I produced this video showing how easy it is to remove and install the skid.
Looking back chalk this one up to lack of experience with a new bike. I've done nothing to fix the "problem" of the side stand but it's never been a problem. Indeed I adapted to it so much that I had forgotten that I even once thought my stock height 2016 non-ES was excessively upright when...
I'd take it all apart and clean it thoroughly first then lube it, put it back together, and see if you still have an issue. If you do play around with adjusting the pedal.
I got mine from my local hardware store who has a fantastic metric selection but it is only a temporary solution. My end goal is to get a set of 12.9 full threaded hardened bolts from Fastenal that fit the necessary dimensions then cut the heads off. I haven't been able to find hardened studs...
Also I don’t know if I’m going to be doing a storage run this weekend but if I do I’ll try to remember to grab that Givi mounting hardware and get you some photos.
Well it is at least a good deal stronger on that base but I’d still remove the top case frequently and check for stress fractures around the countersunk mounting holes so that if you do end up developing a problem you can catch it early.
The universal GIVI one should work. I have the Altrider bracket kit, as well, but haven't removed it from the packaging.
Now that said I would strongly urge you not to do this. These racks are structurally weak and, overall, a flawed product. I wouldn't put a heavy load on it at all.
No letter for me because Yamaha doesn't know who I am but I'm on the list. Called my local dealer and they said they need the bike to order the part and must keep the bike in the process. They're backed up like two three weeks but said it shouldn't be a big deal (i.e. I'd be out a few weeks...
So ran it to work and while tolerable the springs were a little bit irksome because I'm a weakling. That marked time for the first oil change so I opened it up for inspection and swapped out to three black and three gold short springs for a total of 261 lbs. force. I'm planning on putting a...
It defiantly felt firm and my hand is getting more of a workout with the stronger springs. I can't really objectively rate performance though as I rode it just under two miles and it's been nearly a month since I rode the stock bike. I'm hoping I don't have to take the clutch cover off and...
