We have a lot of automated toll roads on the East Coast. Ride over the square detectors with an EZPass and the overhead sensors will bill you without constantly stopping to pay tolls. Till recently, motorcycles could ride between the detectors on the white line and not be charged. We were on a toll road recently and my EZPass was in the car so I tried but it looks like that's now been "fixed."

All good things have an end and at least the toll was only a whopping $1.96.

We have a similar system for out tolls. But ours take pictures of license plates, and the registered owner gets the toll. We have ground loops that trigger the camera that takes the picture when a vehicle passes over them, even motorcycles. BUT, there are gaps in the loops between lanes, and shoulders. So, when you go under a gantry on the broken stripe, or fog line(s), the camera doesn't trigger. I don't feel bad about cheating them on my bike. I drive my Jeep on them, and pay the toll. But, the toll is steadily increasing the amount taken, without providing anything extra. And since they charge by axle, a loaded up U-Haul pays the same toll as my 600lb Tenere. Not very fair by any measure.

Same system here. My license is below the big photo and I got the bill as registered owner. I'm now wondering if I'd have gotten away with this if I'd been on the other side of the ground sensor.

I noticed that it appears that the ground loop goes off to the top right, where it might tie into another loop. Our gaps between the loops appear to be the same as yours, but ours don't appear to tie into anywhere. Almost like they're wireless.

We have toll bridges here now. I really don't know how they work. I think they take pictures of the plates if you don't have a pass thingy that it reads. I have been across them probably 6 or 8 times and never gotten a bill in the mail. One time I know why! the moron behind me was so close there was no way they could get a picture of the plate! I know other people that never go across the bridge. they get charged for crossing it and never get a bill. I guess the bill gets sent some place and it isn't paid. They have a real mess at tax time because they can't get the car registered. It is a terrible mess to get that corrected. I try to avoid the area at all costs if I can.

I don't remember in which country this note was published, which appeared in various newscasts. The man was speeding, the cameras caught the infraction, and they sent it to his home… .. ”obviously”, he was not going with his wife:):)

Oh give him a break... The man "obviously" suffers from acute arthritis in his right hand, and the passenger provides a mobile therapeutic source of heat to treat his condition.
It's called soft tissue healing.

A wet napkin got stuck to my lic plate once in Canada accidentally… on the 405(?) that big toll road. Make sure it’s clear by the time you hit the border though…

Hmmm, maybe if she has arthritis, he too has a therapeutic source of heat for her condition.

That letter and stamp cost more than the dollar 96! Why the effort one would say?

And you are 7 months late on the payment ;)

I have only been in NY State with a rental car once. Got it in Syracuse and drove to Utica. Had to pay a toll at a booth near Utica. Same on the way back to Syracuse. Living in the low population Western part of the great plains it was a big brother like intrusion to me.
