I got shot with so many vaccines to do my job and my yellow vaccine passport (yes there has been such a thing for decades) is so darned long, this doesn't even register on the worried scale of 1 to 10.
I'm with you on getting whatever we need annually.
When i went to africa i had the yellow book. I think i got maybe 2 shots a day for a full week to be able to travel.

This isnt new, but most Americans dont leave America so they just dont know.

One of the several reasons that I'm just gonna stay put, and travel the US. But, I sure would love to travel the in the UK, and Europe. . . . on my Tenere.

Yeah it would be a dream come true to transport my tenere to Europe and tour around for a while

If you can get to Canada, Air Canada will fly you and your bike to Europe and back. (Post COVID)

Hell with that. I want to go to Germany and rent a BMW M 1000 RR. I will then attempt to keep up with traffic on the autobahn. I figure as long as the oil cooler does not rupture and transmission holds together I should be good to go!!

Is the Canadian border still closed to nonessential travel?

Last I heard it was closed until May 21st. It has been extended several times already. There is talk about opening it up with proof of vaccination. I have been in contact with some outfitters hoping to book a fishing trip.

The autobahn is over-rated because while there are still unlimited speed stretches, most cars can't do more than about 140 kph, so about 90 mph, and there's usually enough traffic to keep it well under that.

btw - Get out of Deutschland and they do not give you the extra 5-10 mph like in the US.
The Frenchies are brutal on their highway enforcement. damhik
The only upside to a very expensive encounter is that there are no points on your US license.

Very true CW. In the early 90s, a Diablo piloted by John Lyon of HPC, took four runs at a 50 kilometer stretch of autobahn to hit 200mph in safety - momentarily. The closing speeds are too great for the most part. Covering almost 300ft/sec and quadrupling the stopping distance of a vehicle travelling at 100mph is a huge risk if you are careless . Along with maintaining sufficient visibility to make observational links, having sufficient grip to stop, having the ability to remain 100% safe at all times, there is the problem that there are far more motorists that are less skilled/courteous (following the DE laws) these days. The average ability has suffered as the continent has opened up.

1kph over the speed limit is almost a 100 euro fine in Switzerland. Did I read that here?

The flowing and banked roads that get you across the country quickly are an attractive feature. Not to mention the courteous drivers that move over at a simple flash of your lights. What I know from my buddies that have been stationed in Germany, most all the roads are no speed limit. Just keep up with the flow and flash to get other drivers to move over.

If you are caught doing even 1mph over the speed limit in a commercial vehicle in CA the fines are over the top. It's close to 1000.00 per each mph over 55. If the officer marks the haz mat box then you are screwed. It's equivalent to a DUI. There is no road anywhere in the US that has a speed limit over 85mph. Montana at one time was "Safe And Prudent". Those days are long gone.

I read and hear a lot of nonsense about law enforcement on drivers across Europe, usually stuff that’s hearsay, repeated. Sure, each country has driving laws, some stricter than others, however in my experience you’d be very unlucky or stupid to get done.

I’ve been going to mainland Europe since the mid 80s, probably in excess of 75 trips, across many countries and have been done once for speeding (unlucky),I think for €75. That was in 2019, by a camera.

Like anywhere, choose wisely where you get a move on. Mainland Europe is still an place to thoroughly enjoy riding a bike.

Totally agree, I was more responding to the idea that DE autobahns are unlimited and no problem, when the problem is more about other traffic. The most recent time I got picked off by the French on one of their highways, they had their laser on an overpass and a car waiting on the highway. Before that was years ago again by the Gendarmerie and Polizei.

While the old wide open no speed limit idea isn't what it was 30 years ago there are stretches where . . .

And here's I'm frequently over the limit but don't do that on pleasantly winding back roads:

We oughta bring this thread back to COVID and shots.

Now that I'm vaccinated Autobahn sounds like crap. I think a local Willow Springs track day is in order.
I love riding Europe and look forward to it again at some point. Plan to go if you haven't been by all means!

But for this year I'm good here in the US.
