Sometimes it is better to be at work than to be riding

If traction was his issue, he was probably using the BMW spec'ed Dunlop "run flat" tires. 1) They didn't actually run flat 2) They only had "ok" traction. We changed to the Metzelers, and had better traction with less flats.

Coming back from Wales one new year's day morning, a friend on a Z650 pulled into a petrol station, stopped and his bike fell over. He was so cold his legs had seized. I got him in my car to heat him up. Jeez it was cold outside! :D

As for the TFT, yes the bike runs without it (hopefully) but I'd be looking at that thinking nervously
"what next"
"how much is this going to cost me"
"is this going to happen on our next big vacation trip?"
I'm not going to get too concerned just yet.

Short version: I'm treating it like an airplane circuit breaker. One free pop and reset. I'm counting this episode as the free one.

Longer version: A change was made to the computer (I attached my phone), and the problem surfaced on the very next start cycle of the computer. Lived with electronics long enough to know sometimes stuff has to be rebooted. I can accept that I hit the button too quickly after shut off before all the electronics could shed all their power. It's a reasonable theory. I'm going with that for now.

No doubt I'm keeping an eye on this. I need remove my phone and put DM's in again. Curious to see how that goes.

The dealership has a note on it so if something happens after warranty (still another 14 months) there is a record of it being reported.

Besides what D_D mentioned, DM can kick D_D's ass.
:p
"Can" or "routinely does"... it's a fine line.

Hand so cold that you can't squeeze the clutch, so you just cup it (froze that way anyway) vertically in front of the clutch and pull back. Rates close to the getting caught in a hail storm....

I haven't seen JSNS in a long time. Sure do miss BeemerDonS...

Heading home from Denver after having done a SS1000 there, I took 2 days to meander through SW Colorado. Of course, being September, I ran into all kinds of weather, mostly rain, wind, and a mercifully brief hail storm. I have found that I prefer rain to wind when it's either/or, but getting the two of them together just makes everything ,miserable...

We had both in Hurricane Irene. Trees were bending so far the bark was falling off them leaving an unmistakable bark pattern on the road showing where they would eventually fall. Riding across enough of those bark warning markers got me to throw in the towel. Told DM I don't care what it is, but we're going to the first hotel the GPS finds. Fortunately they had a room, restaurant, and bar.

Had to be terrible. You were riding right into the worst of it. I was way up north (stones throw from Canada) and spent the worst of the wind/rain indoors doing classroom stuff. The middle of the state got hammered that day.

It was a miscalculation. We had been riding Nova Scotia. We did not want to be there when the hurricane hit there as a few spaghetti models suggested it could. It appeared if we could get to NY the models looked like we'd good.

Locals told us not to leave NS. Should have taken their advice. Instead ended up in the state most devastated by the storm.

Just a light breeze and rain until lunch. All hell broke loose shortly after leaving the diner. It got downright scary. Stopped at the Jay Inn.

Next day we eventually made it to NY. Absolute devastation there.

Should have stayed in Nova Scotia.

That was my first couple weeks of Tenere ownership.
