That makes you polite...thank you.

Honestly this is a topic that can get me into a full blown rant. I'm going to try to hold back. It has absolutely nothing to do with the color of bike I'm riding. Back in my V-Strom days my signature line was:

Would you rather follow a Harley up a twisty mountain road, or be smashed in the head with a hammer?
A) How big is the hammer?
B) Can I pick the spot on my head where you hit me?
C) Just hit me and get it over with.

Stepping away from the keyboard now...I'm not going to rant, I'm not going to rant, I'm not going to rant.
A little politeness, empathy and chill gets everyone a long way...

First ride of the season yesterday. Got out for an hour or so to test out the bum knee. It's still not great and I didn't want to stop for pics, but the weather was too gorgeous to pass up an opportunity to ride.
I've been contemplating replacing the Tenere but every time I ride it I'm reminded why I love it so much. It just does everything I want so well. No doubt, there are plenty more exciting mounts out there, but I'm not into feeling my oats so much these days. I'm sure the knee problems have something to do with this, or maybe I am just getting old. Not that I don't mind upping the pace a little, but I think I'll be more inclined when my knee is taken care of. Either way, comfort and dependability seem to do it for me these days.
To those of you with good weather and fine motorcycles.......enjoy!

Pirates and Power Rangers.
Not complimentary
It's the same everywhere. Someplace I have pictures of guys dressed in denim & leathers with their Harley-looking cruisers just sitting and chatting. But the scene was Dalian Chiina and the cruisers were in the 250-450cc range and there was a similar scene in KL. I'm sure Phil sees similar stuff all the time too.

The problem here is that we DO have lots of twisty roads and when getting behind a string of Hardly Drivables it's hard to get past them. The straights are generally not long enough if you don't gas it to stupidly high speeds (Dirt Dad's mention of 100 mph) and being in woods means you absolutely don't want to be on the wrong side of the road going around a curve where there's a good chance of pickups coming the other way. Come up to a curve and the Butt Pirates will close up ranks to prevent you from getting between them, so you need to drop back and trail again.

Aggravating as He77.

On a lighter note, a pic in BarkingLizard's picture thread of Snoopy on a bike with Woodstock in the sidecar reminded me of this Peanuts special:

Yes, we have them here, but the major look is wannabe Rossis on underbones.

If I want a decent ride here I go on my own and very early. No pressure to ''keep up'' as I don't ride very quickly for the most part, but there are occasions when a lack of hazards allows the play button to be pressed....

CW is correct.

Remind me to tell you a story about 160HP bikes and this particular scenario. That's all I want to say here.

The age-old saying about bold vs old pilots could also be said of people who ride powerful bikes.

More often than not, we get some very dangerous "clubs" here. Last time out I was witness to Dukes. Every one of them was a complete retard trying to keep up with the machismo. I assisted one guy by giving him "a place to land" - had I not seen him in my mirrors and moved right he would have either had to (a) punt me outta the way or, (b) become a messy radiator emblem on a jeepney.

Didn't thank me (normal)

Launched himself into the next "gap" in the traffic without a thought to the consequences (normal)

Oncoming vehicle had to slow to accommodate his manoeuvre (normal)

Hazard warning lights on because he is "important" (normal)

Not sure if any of the above fit with the scenario you witnessed.

Oh, the tree. . . . that is cool. . . . I thought you were referring to Bimota's contribution. :D
You'd have to check it wasn't a geezer in these parts..

Reminds me of a question I was asked one day by a concerned holidaymaker in Bangkok. Hmmm...now how do I put this delicately so the "lady" and gentleman concerned are affected as little as possible.....
