I'm Bad, I'm Nationwide.
German AK by way of South Carolina with a stop in Portugal along the way.

PTR 32P
PTR came out with these a few years back and they are just excellent. They took their clone of the HK91 in 308 and redid them in 7.62x39 to take AK mags. They make a few versions 8" 12" pistols and a regular 16" rifle. I'm just waiting for my paperwork to come back so I can put a real stock on it like the one in the picture here. I'm eagerly awaiting a new batch to come out I want a second 8" and one of the 16" guns.

Yeah, you can definitely see the H&K influence. Just can't bring myself to have an AK. Too many bad guys have killed too many of our guys with them.

Everything about it is HK other than the mag well, oh and the bolt face is a different size. All parts interchange with the HK parts accessories etc. In fact they were originally made on HK machines they used for the Spanish contract guns (the Portugal reference) but PTR moved 100% of the production on their guns to the US 2015 or so. They make MP5(9mm), 94 (223) 91 (308) and this 7.62x39 all to the HK spec. With actual improvements like better mag release and welded pic rail for scopes.

The MP5 is my favorite 9mm. But, they will over penetrate in a house, where the .223 didn't. Opposite of what I would have expected.

I sort of forgot that I have a Star FireStar Plus 9mm in the safe.....haven't fired it in years. Nice pistol that I picked up reasonably priced.

I wish everyone could have had a Dad like mine teach them respect and proper use of a firearm. Good memories.

Those were built here in Maryland and I was a college intern working at Fairchild when I had a part in designing some weapons control wiring deep in the avionics that nobody will ever see.
Germantown? I seem to remember a Fairchild facility there.
