How does it feel around town? Is all that weight an issue every time you're creeping through a crowded parking lot? I'm sure it disappears with a little throttle, but what about in the driveway?
I don't really do any touring. But, I live in the country a bit, and it's a short hop on the interstate just to run to the store. And the roads around here completely suck. So, it's around town type riding, but with a lot of highway time. I had been thinking about looking at the new Strom 1000, but the dealer's got a good deal on a Tenere.
I love the sportiness of my Triple and don't want to give up the exhilaration of corners and awesome torque.

Welcome to the forum. It would help people answer if you would put a general location under your avatar.

The weight seems to vanish at about 3 mph and the bike is fine for commuting in stop & go or parking lots. This is not a Triumph Triple so you will get a better do-everything bike and won't get that adrenaline quasi-sportbike feel. This is a bike that you will think "not very fast" and then realize you are going faster than you realized. We have a number of owners here who have owned VStroms, including me, and I'd rather have the Tenere.

For these and most other questions, the search function works well and most noob topics have been answered repeatedly over the last 10 years.

That describes my riding also. To me, the only time she feels heavy is is pushing her around the garage. Once you get her rolling, she looses a hundred pounds. Everybody has their own thoughts on what is fast, and what is good handling. I've been riding sport tours for decades; FJ/FJR, BMW RT, and ST1300. The Tenere is my favorite bike ever.

It’s absolutely fine around town, the weight disappears with the slightest of throttle. On the open road, the weight becomes irrelevant and the bike handles far better that most would think it would and far better than it looks like it should, it’s good fun through twisty roads, you can get a move on!

moving it without the engine helping......it’s heavy, very heavy if you introduce the slightest of inclines. I’m 6ft 2in and around 16 and a half stone and this bike for me takes some effort when dragging around the garage/driveway or an awkward parking spot.

If you're not used to a 600 lb bike, ask yourself why you're looking at them? The Super Ten does fine in almost any environment, if you practice the skills required to ride it in that environment. Parking lot drills are talked about a lot in the riding community because it's a basic skill set that translates well to any bike, but is especially important on larger, heavier bikes.

Make a list of the things you want from this next bike. Not knowing what size your 'town' is, we have no idea what around town riding conditions or reality is for you. A scooter might be more appropriate, or a Sport Touring bike. We don't know.

At least for me it’s not so much the weight it’s the height, if you do happen to drop it somewhere the extra height requires quite a bit more strength to pick it up.
It handles and rides great !

Welcome, How many miles a year do you average? The low maintenance shaft drive is a big plus. I believe the Strom still has a chain.

Like others have said, the bike is very well balanced and nimble the moment the wheels begin to turn. It also helps that the bike has a lot of stop-to-stop steering lock too, at least compared to my previous Honda ST1300. If you're short of inseam the saddle height might be an issue with frequent stopping, but even for that Yamaha has a low seat option available. I have the standard saddle, set to the low position which works fine with my 30" inseam. I had my ECU re-flashed and I think that made the throttle much more controllable in slow 'round town riding. Prior to flashing, I found sport mode too herky-jerky in town or stop and go riding, so only used touring mode under those conditions. Now, since the re-flash, both modes are very controllable under all conditions.

Once you get used to the balance points on the bike it's not really a problem in parking lots. I used to practice figure 8s in a small section of my driveway on the Tenere. It does just fine.

Welcome from Mexico!
As said, the only problem I have seen with S10 is when moving it in the drive way and engine not running, due to her weight and high gravity center being high you can loose balance very easy! (fortunately I have not drop my bike under dose conditions!), driving is piece of cake and very enjoyable!
Practice a lot, yes practice is the only way of assuring you can learn and master how to manage your bike, no matter what bike you drive!!
Regards!
