Just had the 24K service. Needed 2 valve shims replacing.
All fluids replaced
2 new Metzeler Tourance Next tyres
New EBC pads all round
New EBC front discs
New taper roller head bearing
Got a bill approaching 1500 notes.
Head Bearings and front discs at 24k, I’m very surprised. I would have thought both would be fine until at least double that.

Andy, was that at a main Yamaha dealer? Did you supply the pads/discs/tyres?

No, my bike/s rarely see a dealers, I do most stuff myself.

Mines at about 31k miles, the front discs have no noticeable wear on them, however the rear does. The head bearings feel smooth and have no play. I checked the valve clearances at 30k miles, all were within spec. Fluids, including brake, are changed regularly, plugs and air filter when required, the former checked yearly to understand water ingress to the plug wells.

I have a garage and plenty of tools and am a fan of preventative maintenance, usually during the winter months.

Lowered the seat and then sat on it for awhile and put both feet flat on the floor. Put the charger back on and went through the snow back to the house. Spring is elusive this time of the year.

I'm shocked you would need front brakes at 24k. Most folks don't need any valve adjustment that early either. Did they give you the measurements?

hammered out the rear bracket and bash plate so the kickstand would come down.. Bent the shifter back into place, pulled the crash bars back into place - upgraded some armor bits - then went riding

Does anyone have a compact toolkit parts list for the S10? Something that you would use to remove anything you needed to remove while in the backwoods. I don't mean air pumps or plug kits (I have those), I mean just tools/tool sizes.

Since my S10 didn't come with a kit, I grabbed the tools that I knew about and packed them in a spare tools pouch I had laying around, but there are way better kits than mine and I'd like to make sure that I'm good for most repairs.

So does anyone have an exhaustive list I can swipe from them to build a better kit?

edit: Well I found the sticky: https://www.yamahasupertenere.com/index.php?threads/tools-sticky.13026/ - but if anyone wants to add to that, I'm all ears.

Put this together - It works for me.

The breaker bar, socket, rim protectors and tire tools all fit under the seat. The tool roll sits in bag with a pump and battery back (also small).
Multi tool in the tank bag. If you really want the list message me and I'll send it to you.
