So, who besides myself attended the Toronto bike show this weekend???
I didn't see any signs of Yamaha there. A little bit of Honda along with some Suzuki.
Overall, not impressed, it's turned into a flea market.

Just wanted to get out for a ride today as the temperatures were in the mid teens or for you guys down there around 60 F.
After today, I got just over 600 kilometres or approximately 375 miles on my new '18 ES. Heated grips...ahhhh, cruize control.....ahhhhhh
Does it get any better??
Performance wise, can't say as I am observing the break in period, so around 4,000 RPM is tops for now.

Why, yes....yes it does. As soon as you get it broken in. She's pretty sleepy below 4k. Take this time to calibrate your right wrist to "S". So when you get to fully enjoy the entire rpm range....you will understand why they call her SUPER Tenere.

Looking forward to that.
I placed it into sport mode only once and I could immediately feel the difference.
For the break in phase I'll stick to touring mode.
By months end I will have had the first service and shortly thereafter I will be able to exercise my wrist
Thanks for your reply

Glad you're getting it out and about SHUMBA. Remember, don't baby it. No sustained higher rpms does not mean no high rpms. It's not only ok to run it up, it's good for the break in process. Just don't hang out at 6k droning down the expressway. Up and down is the key. Some decel braking too. Really helps with the ring break in. The ceramic cylinder walls won't do much. At 83k you could still see the cross hatching on my cylinder walls. The rings on the other hand were much more worn, (by comparison).

Ok, thanks for that, yes it recommends to exercise a variety of riding speeds, and to avoid any prolonged heavy acceleration or continuous operations at constant speeds.
So, far my riding has been a mixture of city and highway riding.
Curious to know how the Ten will compare with the Africa Twin. I suspect similar performance because its all about power to weight ratios.

That April motorcycle show was known as the spring swap meet show.
The manufacturers avoid it.
Dealers are there as are all manner of cheap black leather and pudding bowl helmets.
The February show is the one that the manufacturers support.

No Surprises there Shumba, we've all known for years that the April Motorcycle show is complete garbage... it's nothing more then made in pakistan/china leather jackets, gloves, sausage vendors and Harley Davidson parts along with a couple of other vendors that sell insurance, motorcycle groups and crappy helmets -- I won't be going back to that one at all... if ever.. It's the February show that you want to go to, the one where the manufacturers bring in their latest bikes to display.

You described it exactly!! This is the show to avoid.
I've been to the bike show at the Enercare Centre near the exhibition grounds in February.
Agree, that's the bike show to visit.
If nothing else, I managed to get in a good ride and get acquainted with the bike.
It was about a 250 kilometre run, which brings me up to 600 km total now.
