I'm spending the winter in Apache Junction and try to get out for a ride each day. Inspired by the upcoming Florida winter riders meeting for lunch, I'm wondering if any Arizona S10ers would like to get together and tell some lies, maybe even head out for an adventure ride or two.

If my plans work out I'll be riding to Las Vegas for the annual New Years Death Valley ride, and then wander over to Florida.... Maybe we could meet somewhere.... I'm pretty sure I'll be going through Tombstone, and maybe Bisbee.... The NYDV ride is January 5th and we (a V-Strom rider and I) will head south and east a few days or possible a week or so after that.

Count me in, I'm down in Douglas. Can you give me a little info on the Vegas Death Valley ride? That sounds like fun

Okay then, sounds like Tombstone AZ sometime around January 9 to 12. I can suggest Big Nose Kate's Saloon for lunch, it's a bit of a tourist trap kind of place, or if anyone can recommend another diner will be fine.

A buddy in Vegas does it every year. Not a big ride, usually 5 to 15 riders. We stop for eats along the way. This year it will be on the 5th of January, I don't know details yet, but can let you know when I find out.

Planned route and meet point with leave time:

Wanna meet early in the morning (8:00 AM?) Saturday and ride out to Tortilla Flats for breakfast? If you ride off pavement, we can buzz up Apache Trail to Roosevelt Lake afterwards.

Yup, Apache Trail is a great ride now that it has been repaved. And the dirt road down to Fish Creek canyon is always a treat.
8:00 AM Saturday at Chevron on S. Idaho Rd (aka 88) and 60.
Any other inmates in the area also welcome.

We had a great ride today, breakfast at Tortilla Flat followed by a ride up Apache Trail and lunch at Jakes corner. We then rode a muddy trail 6700 feet up Mt Ord, a first for both of us. Here's a photo overlooking Apache Lake.100_2944.JPG

I finally have a firmer date. We'll leave Vegas on the 6th and ride to Oro Valley where we'll spend the night. Then meet for lunch on the 7th .... I hope that date works for you. We had to change our plans for one of our group (my wife) so that is why the earlier date.

We'll be returning to Oro Valley again that night then ride to the border and into Baja.
