I just bought a well setup 2012. I have finally given up on a Goldilocks bike and sold my super enduro. My plan is to use the S10 for exploring, long-range adventure riding, gravel, fire roads, and two-up riding and buy a light dual sport for the rough stuff.

Welcome. I don't get on here much. I'm on the east side of the state here in Lawrence. How about you. I don't think there are many of us here in the middle of the country. Yes I know I need some help on how to use this form

Welcome. The Super Tenere is the best touring platform for me, and that's coming from someone who used to ride a Road King. It's definitely a bike I'd buy again. 53,000 miles so far since 2014, riding all over the country, and I'm still not bored with it.

I just crossed Kansas twice in June (my 5th and 6th trip back and forth across your state). No where else in my travels have I encountered a wind that blew constantly from the same direction for a full eight hours over hundreds of miles. That was an exhausting day.

If it was a side wind, yes, that must have been exhausting. I know of only one way to stop side winds from hitting you.
I'm just glad I don't live in Kansas anymore! Flat and straight roads, how boring........

Im lucky to live in the pretty part of the state, We have lots of hills and 100's of miles of beautiful "B" roads to explore.

Yep, I was traveling east to west, and it blew from my left for the whole ride. I've hit worse side wind in New Mexico, but they didn't last nearly as long.
